Step 1. We draw Hugh's sketch. When drawing portraits the sketch the most important therefore it is necessary to spend more time on its drawing that the result satisfied us. By rules it is necessary to draw the line of eyes, then perpendicular to it we draw a straight line which defines position of a nose and length of the person. These lines it is drawn by a pencil In, hardly pressing it. Always begin with an eye at the left, if you the right-handed person. Then we draw other parts of the face, throughout all process always verify with the original that there corresponded proportions. The final version has to look, as on the picture. After that it is necessary to have a rest some minutes and to look at a portrait fresh eyes, to correct defects. The author to insist on importance of the good sketch because all hurry quicker to draw shadows, but thus the sketch not all that well and respectively result will be same.
Step 2. How to draw eyes at the man. That is important when drawing eyes, it not to do them big in comparison with the person (a typical mistake at beginners), to make a patch of light on a pupil. We draw a pencil 3B. Start drawing with the left eye (at the left).
We draw an eye iris of the eye, the top part is always more dark than it because of a shadow from a century, we trace an eye further.
We draw eyelashes and we darken an eyelid, for smooth transition of shadows use a stick for shading. At this stage we should not worry about a saturation of shadows.
We take a piece of chalk or a white pencil and we put patches of light to make an eye live.
Now we start drawing of the second eye.
Step 3. We draw a nose. The main mistakes when drawing a nose: a nose very long, very narrow and very direct since most of people have a little crooked nose. We apply shadows on a nose after that we start drawing patches of light, also we draw a shadow near by.
Step 4. We start drawing a forehead with wrinkles, lines have to be smooth and soft. We put shadows.
We start putting light sites in a forehead, very gently and always taking into account the direction of light, in this case light falls from above therefore light sites on a forehead have to be below lines of wrinkles.
